Vancouver is a very multicultural city, and our customers come from countries all over the world. Our multicultural section is as diverse as our customers.
Many children are immigrants or first generation Canadian, and having books available that reflect the immigrant experience is very important. These types of books range from stories about refugees fleeing their homeland to children learning to adjust to new experiences. These books provide an important window into the lives of children from around the world as well as the stories of children who are newly arrived in Canada. We also have books celebrating the many ethnicities around the world in both picture book and non-fiction book form –excellent tools to broaden the horizons of children in your classroom or home!
The multicultural section also includes children's books dealing with peace, from thoughtful books on why war happens to how important it is to work for peace everywhere.
If you are looking for books to share with your children about other children in the world or a book to reflect on war around Remembrance Day, then look no further! Can't find what you want, or need a suggestion? Please don't hesitate to contact us
